Bodhrán
On the one hand, we learn the playing techniques of this fascinating and versatile drum, and on the other hand, we concentrate on the rhythms of Irish music (jig, reel, hornpipe, slip-jug, etc.). Experienced musicians will also find the course a very useful experience because they will gain a deeper understanding of Celtic music through rhythm. There are no prerequisites; we will work without notes, using listening, feeling, and humor instead. Professional bodhráns are available to participants and if so desired, can be purchased.

Tom Keller (Switzerland)
Since Tom Keller couldn’t make up his mind when he was a child which instrument he wanted to specialize in, he became a multi-instrumentalist. The piano was the basic instrument, and the peak of his career as a pianist was in a rock-and-roll band. He studied African music (djembe) for a long time. Today, he sings and plays (guitar and bodhrán) in the Irish folk band The Pint. Professionally, he has always looked beyond the borders (Pan, Weltmusikladen, Uhuru World Music Festival). Tom Keller often travels to Ireland. He broadened his knowledge of the bodhrán at the Frankie Kennedy Winter School in Donegal and at the Craiceann on the Aaran Islands.
